United Rentals

CCH and Alfasi redirect verification

Civilcon Hire and Alfasi Hire to unitedrentals.com/en-au · 31 August 2026

Headline

Nothing is broken. Every source URL returns a single-hop 301 and every destination is a live 200 page – no 404s, no chains, no loops, no soft-404s across either domain.

CCH needs no changes. All 64 rows are correct, every crawled and every impression-earning CCH URL redirects, and nothing lands somewhere a better page exists. The only CCH item is a conditional sheet update in action 3 below, and only if the Batemans Bay URL is corrected.

Four Alfasi pages need a row added, together 223 impressions and 8 clicks a quarter. All four currently land on the Alfasi brand page, which is the wrong destination for a product. Separately, one content typo on the United Rentals site needs correcting.

Count Impressions Clicks
Broken links, either site 0 – –
CCH actions 0 – –
Alfasi products on the brand page with no row at all 4 223 8
United Rentals content typo carried from the old site 1 – –
Alfasi judgement call – cranes 1 449 4

The equipment redirects are in better shape than a first pass suggested. Eight product pages sit on a category page rather than a product page, but in every case United Rentals has no machine of the same power type at that height, so the category page is the correct destination. Detail under Confirmed correct.

What was checked

Check Result
CCH sheet rows verified live 64 of 64 return 301 to the exact target listed
Alfasi sheet rows verified live 312 of 312 return 301 to the exact target listed
Distinct destination URLs tested 130, all live 200 with a real page
Crawled legacy URLs tested 423 (82 CCH, 341 Alfasi), all 301
Search Console pages tested, 01/03–25/08/2026 526 (71 CCH at 47,022 impressions, 455 Alfasi at 710,661), all 301

Both catch-alls are confirmed working, so no legacy URL can 404. An invented path on civilconhire.com.au – /totally-made-up-page-xyz – reaches /en-au, and one on alfasihire.com.au – /totally-made-up-xyz – reaches /en-au/alfasi-hire.

Method: every source URL requested live with a browser UA, first hop recorded without following. Every equipment source slug was then matched against the full United Rentals hire catalogue on all three of working height, machine type and power type. A product page is only a better destination than the category when all three agree; electric is not diesel, and a near miss on power sends the customer to a machine they cannot use. Destinations were verified against the 1,239-page unitedrentals.com crawl, with the two not in it opened in a browser – curl cannot judge a UR target because the WAF returns 403 to every /en-au request including the homepage.

Sheets:

1. Alfasi: model-code pages missing from an otherwise mapped series

135 impressions and 8 clicks. In both cases the rest of the model range is already in the sheet and only one model was missed, so the destination follows the pattern the sheet already sets.

Legacy URL Impr Clicks Currently goes to Should go to Series precedent already in the sheet
/quattro-400/ 100 6 /en-au/alfasi-hire /en-au/hire/equipment/access/glass-and-panel-lifts/panel-lifter-400kg /quattro-500 and /quattro-600-3in1 map to the 500kg and 600kg panel lifters
/jlg-x13j/ 35 2 /en-au/alfasi-hire /en-au/hire/equipment/access/spider-lifts /jlg-x17-plus already goes to the spider lifts category

The Quattro 400 is a like-for-like: same machine type, same 400kg capacity. The X13J has no equivalent machine, so it takes the category, exactly as the X17 Plus already does.

2. Alfasi: category-path duplicates of products already mapped under their flat URL

88 impressions. Both of these have a correct row in the sheet under the short URL. Only the longer /equipment-hire/<category>/<product>/ form was missed, so each takes the same destination its flat twin already uses.

Legacy URL Impr Clicks Currently goes to Should go to Flat URL already mapped to the same place
/equipment-hire/boom-lifts/85ft-electric-rt-knuckle-boom/ 85 0 /en-au/alfasi-hire /en-au/hire/equipment/access/boom-lifts /85ft-electric-rt-knuckle-boom
/equipment-hire/material-handling/skid-steer-jcb-205t/ 3 0 /en-au/alfasi-hire /en-au/hire/equipment/earthmoving/loaders /skid-steer-jcb-205t

This is worth one rule rather than two rows. The sheet already carries 58 rows on the /equipment-hire/<category>/<product>/ pattern, so the form is understood – these two simply fell through.

Note on the 85ft knuckle boom. An earlier draft of this page sent it to /en-au/hire/equipment/access/boom-lifts/86ft-diesel-straight-boom on the reasoning that the 80ft knuckle boom would not reach the height. Applying the power-type rule consistently, that target is a diesel straight boom against an electric knuckle boom, so it fails on both power and boom type and the category page is correct. The flat URL already points at the category, so this keeps the two forms consistent. Say if you want the 86ft mapping restored instead.

3. United Rentals site: "Cresent" typo carried from the old site

United Rentals' own Batemans Bay branch page misspells Crescent as "Cresent", in the page copy and in the URL:

/en-au/locations/nsw/batemans-bay/26-kylie-cresent

The address block reads "26 Kylie Cresent, Batemans Bay". The street is Kylie Crescent, so this is a typo that carried across from the old content rather than a house style. Fix it as either "26 Kylie Crescent" spelled in full or "26 Kylie Cres" abbreviated, and apply the same choice to the page copy and the URL.

If the URL slug is corrected, two things follow: redirect the old slug to the new one so the address does not break, and update the CCH sheet row for /657-2, which currently points at the misspelled URL.

4. Alfasi: cranes go to telehandlers, a judgement call

/alfasi-hire/equipment-hire/cranes carries 449 impressions and 4 clicks and lands on /en-au/hire/equipment/forklifts-and-telehandlers/telehandlers, as do 37 individual crane pages that carry no search traffic at all.

United Rentals does not hire cranes, so there is no better page to send them to. Telehandlers is the closest hire category, but a customer searching for a 250t crawler crane will not find what they came for. The alternative is the generic hire hub. Internal decision, low priority given the traffic, and not included in the actions below.

5. Alfasi and CCH articles – no action needed

The Alfasi blog posts, including both acquisition announcements, land on the brand page and register zero Search Console impressions between them, so there is nothing to recover. Two CCH articles land on the homepage at 18 and 5 impressions: /hire-company-of-the-year-finalists-for-2022/ and /celebrating-our-5th-anniversary/. CCH's own /about-us/latest-news was pointed at /en-au/resources/project-uptime if you want consistency, but the volume does not justify the work.

Confirmed correct – no action

Eight products on a category page, where no machine matches on power type

These carry 8,349 impressions and 123 clicks between them and were candidates for a product-level redirect. In each case United Rentals has a machine at the same height but not in the same power type, so the category page is the right destination – sending an electric enquiry to a diesel product page puts the customer in front of a machine they did not ask for.

Legacy URL Impr Clicks Goes to the category Nearest UR machine at that height Why the category is correct
/65-electric-scissor-lift 3,161 43 /en-au/hire/equipment/access/scissor-lifts 65ft diesel rough terrain no 65ft electric
/34-electric-knuckle-boom 1,461 28 /en-au/hire/equipment/access/boom-lifts 34ft diesel and 34ft hybrid no 34ft electric
/40-diesel-rough-terrain-scissor-lift 1,062 13 /en-au/hire/equipment/access/scissor-lifts 40ft electric rough terrain no 40ft diesel
/87ft-electric-straight-rt-boom-lift-high-capacity 880 14 /en-au/hire/equipment/access/boom-lifts 87ft diesel straight no 87ft electric
/50-electric-knuckle-boom 538 7 /en-au/hire/equipment/access/boom-lifts 50ft hybrid knuckle no 50ft electric
/74ft-electric-straight-boom-lift-high-capacity 519 4 /en-au/hire/equipment/access/boom-lifts 74ft diesel straight no 74ft electric
/85ft-electric-rt-knuckle-boom 413 9 /en-au/hire/equipment/access/boom-lifts 80ft diesel knuckle, 86ft diesel straight no 85ft electric, and nothing between 80ft and 86ft
/92ft-electric-straight-rt-boom-lift-high-capacity 315 5 /en-au/hire/equipment/access/boom-lifts 92ft diesel straight no 92ft electric

Across all 376 rows, the only exact three-way matches found were three legacy equipment-sales URLs, and those correctly go to sales categories rather than hire product pages – see below.

Everything else confirmed

Actions needed

Three, all minor. CCH needs no changes.

1. Add two Alfasi model-code pages missed from an otherwise complete series. 135 impressions, 8 clicks a quarter.

2. Add two Alfasi category-path duplicates. 88 impressions. Both products already have a correct row under their short URL, so these take the same destinations. Better applied as a rule across the /equipment-hire/<category>/<product>/ form than as two rows.

3. Correct the "Cresent" typo on the Batemans Bay branch page. The address should read Kylie Crescent, spelled in full or abbreviated to Cres, applied to both the page copy and the URL slug at /en-au/locations/nsw/batemans-bay/26-kylie-cresent. If the slug changes, redirect the old URL and update the CCH sheet row for /657-2, which points at the misspelled address.

Nothing else needs action. Where an Alfasi product page sits on a category page rather than a product page, it is because United Rentals has no machine of the same power type at that height, and the category is correct in that case. The Alfasi blog posts register no search impressions, and the two CCH articles are 18 and 5 impressions respectively.
